The Senior ‘Management’ Team at the LGF are bullies. They are surrounded by sycophantic staff who have little or no job protection and are worked to death. Then there are the rank and file of volunteers who are exploited for their altruism and kept ignorant. The incidence of violent hate crime and murders in our community is higher than ever, STIs are ragingly out of control and we’re still over-represented in mental health services compared to our demography. It begs the question – what do they actually do? When was the last time there was an open and thorough consultation with us about the services we need?
The fact that the LGF run full page ads for a nightclub which flyered the candlelit vigil last year at Pride is an example of how divorced they are from the communities they claim to serve.
It’s all about the money.

Maybe if Manchester’s gay scene provided a bit more (in fact anything at all) for older LGBTs (who let’s face it are nearer popping off) they might consider leaving something in their will. Until then the moneybox is staying padlocked.

What on earth! are they for real?

I give them my hard earned cash at an event each month that raises funds for the LGF. Now I don’t think I’ll be able to go along and enjoy myself knowing where those funds go (or as you say don’t go!). Enough is enough, the LGF will be responsible their own downfall. If they are struggling to pay the bills then they won’t get much public sympathy by pandering to people’s emotions in such a drastic way.

“Ultimately the Lesbian and Gay Foundation may exist as a force for good,” – its important to remember that fact whatever your main criticisms of them may be.

It is true they have made some major mistakes here but the main casualties are clearly themselves.
