  1. Hello

How can I help? I am a writer now based in rural France but have been a queer theorist and LGBT activist for over ten years

My name is Michelle-Louise Lewis and I’m a post-op transsexual living just outside Brighton but, hopefully, not much longer.

The reason I write to you is that I too am sick to death of this so-called “gay establishment”.

Let me give you and example. There is a pub in Brighton called the Marine Tavern run by two men who are part of this mafia. In that particular hostel I have been subjected to transphobic abuse and my friend has been subject to RACIST abuse by the landlord and his partner which led to him being barred from the pub. What have the Police done about it? What have the gay publications done about it? Zip. Zero. Nada. Because they’re all in cahoots with each other.

Another example is the Miss Transgender competition. I am one of the morse successful TSs around, with considerable sexual interest from even straight men and have done – and still do – modelling. So, I was fairly confident of winning. Did I win? Nope. The top three it was later revealed were all friends of the organisers. I later learned that they resorted to dirty tricks to prevent me winning fair and square like losing my application form and putting me on last. This was brought to the attention of the local rag but nothing came of it.

Then there was my case against American Express and Adecco over discrimination against me. Again, did anyone come to my defence…? 3Sixty magazine even allowed an advert from Amex to appear in their Pride issue!!! So, a company that blatantly discriminates against LGBT people can be allowed to advertise in an LGBT magazine????

I could go on and on but I do think that what goes on in the so-called “Gay Capital” must be brought to your attention.

Are you also active in the USA? How can I get involved?
